Summer Robotics at Queensborough College

Science Honors Program (SHP) Columbia University
(Saturdays!!) (Current 9th-11th Graders) The Columbia University Science Honors Program (SHP) is a year-long Saturday program for high school students who have a strong interest in the sciences and mathematics.
Classes are Saturdays from 10:00 A.M. to 12:30 P.M. at Columbia University throughout the academic year. Courses are primarily in the physical, chemical, biological, behavioral, and computing sciences; and instructors are scientists and mathematicians who are actively engaged in research at the University.
Program cost is $350/semester. NOTE: Fee waivers may be available for students with documented financial hardships. Funds are granted after you’ve fully applied (so you won’t know until you’ve applied.)

Museum of Art & Design: Artslife Summer Internship

Artslife is a paid, six-week summer internship program for 10 rising sophomores and juniors who live in New York City and are currently enrolled in a New York City public or charter high school.
It combines art and design with leadership training, museum studies, and community engagement. Manhattan District Attorney’s High School Internship Program

The Manhattan District Attorney’s High School Internship Program is a rigorous five-week internship that provides students with an insider’s view of the criminal justice system. Participants will have the opportunity to engage in workshops and discussions, participate in a mock trial program, develop professionalism in an office setting, and more. Interns will be paid minimum wage.

- Applicants must live in Manhattan
- Must commit to attending the full five-week session from June 30, 2025 – August 1, 2025 (in-person Monday through Friday from 9:30 am – 4:30 pm)

SCA Summer Internship Program (“SIP”)
(PAID!) (9th-12th Graders) Six-week paid internship with various School Authorty Construction. SIP is designed to expose students to careers in various industries including but not limited to architecture, engineering, construction management, information technology, business, and public administration.

Become a Project TRUE Field Research Assistant! You will spend your summer and fall conducting field research at the Bronx Zoo with a team of college students, scientists and Educators from Fordham University and the Wildlife Conservation Society.
Program Highlights:

Work with a small research team to develop and carry out an authentic urban ecology research project.

Teen Doc Authors Fellowship at Maysles

The Teen DocAuthors Fellowship (TDA) is a free after-school film program for students and young people between the ages of 13-19. We may also welcome any student in their freshman year of college or in transition. The program runs weekly on Tuesdays from 4-7pm from February - May, 2025
In this fellowship, teens will focus on and explore different film and movie making techniques. This fellowship provides the space to learn the supporting and necessary skills in producing film and curating/producing festivals, as well as, developing basic skills of media making (including photography, camera use and sound making).

Take part in an 8-week, biomedical or computational lab-based internship in a Memorial Sloan Kettering (MSK) research lab this summer!!
Students are paired with a mentor who supervises & helps them develop appropriate technical skills. Over the course of the internship, students complete a self-directed project, participate in laboratory meetings and program sessions. Students will also explore outside of the laboratory & meet a variety of people within their assigned laboratories and MSK community. The stipend is $1,200 after students complete the program!

Park Armory Youth Corps Internship
(PAID) (11th & 12th Graders Ages 16+ by start date)
Want to work in an unconventional arts space, experience all kinds of art and meet important artists—all while gaining work experience & career skills?
Park Avenue Armory is looking for junior and senior high school interns to be part of the PAID High School Youth Corps program. Become immersed in the art and creative processes of the Armory’s artists through a project-oriented internship that provides job and career training, leadership development, and essential communication and life skills.
Program Dates: February 24, 2025 - May 22, 2025 (Mon, Tues, Thurs only, 4-6pm) – Students must be available for all dates, as attendance is crucial.
Pay: $16 per hour for all internship sessions

Cyphers for Justice (hip-hop, social justice & research)

Columbia University’s Teacher College & Queens College bring you an opportunity to explore hip-hop, spoken word, digital literacy, and critical social research methods to produce and present social justice group projects!
MJ says, “Cyphers for Justice is an amazing research opportunity for students who have an existing interest in social justice and would like exposure doing research. Former students had the opportunity to present at the UN, and annually they present nationally at the AERA, and the Youth Summithosted by the NYCDOE. Overall, a phenomenal program.”

MSK Summer Exposure Program
(FREE!!) (Current Grades 9th-11th)
The Summer Exposure Program is a hybrid remote and onsite six-week research program at Memorial Sloan Kettering offered to students in grades 9 through 11 from underrepresented groups who are interested in pursuing a career in STEM (science, technology, engineering, and math).
Participants will:
Get 18 hours of Kaplan SAT courses
Receive mentorship from a MSK faculty member and MSK Summer Pipeline Medical Student
Attend a series of scientific lectures, career panels, and hands-on demonstrations
Complete a five-minute research presentation or case study at the end of the program and will have a draft of their college essay personal statement
